Riverside Extends Cloudpermit’s Community Development Software Platform with the Addition of CityReporter
The Riverside Company, a global investment firm focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has invested in CityReporter, a cloud-based provider of asset management and inspections software for municipalities across North America. This investment is an add-on to Riverside’s portfolio company, Cloudpermit.
The addition of CityReporter expands Cloudpermit’s capabilities beyond regulatory processes into field maintenance and asset management, creating a more comprehensive solution that supports local governments across the full lifecycle of community development and infrastructure oversight. Municipalities across North America rely on CityReporter to simplify inspections, improve safety compliance and modernize collaboration between departments and field teams.
Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Cloudpermit is a leading community development software platform purpose-built for local governments. Its comprehensive SaaS solution streamlines permitting, licensing, code enforcement, planning and public works processes, enabling municipalities to modernize regulatory workflows, improve transparency and better serve citizens. With a growing customer base across the United States, Canada and Europe, Cloudpermit delivers an integrated digital experience that connects local departments and stakeholders.
“This combination brings together two mission-driven organizations with deep experience in delivering modern, cloud-based tools for local governments,” said Riverside Managing Partner Loren Schlachet. This acquisition aligns with Riverside’s Software and IT Specialization, which focuses on building scalable platforms in mission-critical, vertical software markets. Riverside has completed more than 270 investments in this focus area and has a team of global experts dedicated to growing these companies.
“From day one, our mission has been to equip local governments with modern tools to manage growing workloads, improve service delivery and streamline every step of their operations,” said Cloudpermit CEO Jan Pawli. “This acquisition strengthens our position as the leading platform for local governments, expanding what we offer and ensuring our customers have access to the very best technology on the market — today and into the future.”
“Local governments are struggling to balance increased workloads and resource constraints with growing expectations for timely, high-quality service, all while maintaining rigorous compliance standards,” said Senior Partner Joe Manning. “This investment is about equipping municipalities with integrated software tools that reduce administrative burden and deliver a seamless digital experience to constituents.”
Working alongside Schlachet and Manning on the deal for Riverside were Principal Ken Johnson, Assistant Vice President Nancy Graham, Associate Nikolai Kassogue, Operating Partner Pete Khanna and Finance Director Chrissie Yim.
